Depart from Nagoya for Hida-Takayama, where the itinerary includes walking the preserved streets of the old town and the Sanmachi Old Town District, and sampling local specialties such as Hida beef sushi, Takayama ramen, and sweet rice dumplings; browse traditional handicrafts including woodwork, lacquerware, and handmade lanterns. Continue to Shirakawa-go Gassho Village in Gifu, a UNESCO World Heritage site noted for its Gassho-zukuri steep thatched-roof farmhouses designed for heavy snow; visit the Shiroyama Viewpoint for a panoramic view of the village and explore traditional houses and local museums. The itinerary also includes a stop at the Ochudo Café, which appeared in One Piece Chapter 566 and displays artwork gifted by Eiichiro Oda, where sweet red bean porridge is served.
