Full description
The tour begins with pickup from Osaka or Kyoto and proceeds to Shirahige Shrine on Lake Biwa, noted for its white torii gate and a history cited at over 1,900 years. The itinerary includes a cable car ride on Mt. Horai in a 360° glass cabin to the Biwako Terrace (Mt. Horai elevation 1,100 m), with optional activities such as a zip line and skywalk. Alternatively or subsequently the route visits Sanzen-in Temple in Ohara village, an 8th-century temple surrounded by moss gardens and seasonal plantings, then continues to Mangetsu-ji Floating Hall on the lakeshore, one of the traditional Eight Views of Omi. The tour can also include a stop at La Collina Omihachiman, a hillside complex that offers local confections including baumkuchen and dorayaki.
