Full description
Depart from Shinjuku by air-conditioned coach to Omuroyama, where a scenic chairlift (about 6 minutes) ascends to a summit trail with 360-degree views toward Mt. Fuji, Sagami Bay, the Hakone mountains, and Izu’s Seven Islands. The route continues to Izu Cactus & Animal Park, which has five themed greenhouses housing over 1,500 cacti and succulents and animal areas with species such as squirrel monkeys, kangaroos, and capybaras (capybaras use a hot spring area in winter); a DIY succulent potting option is available. From Izu-Kōgen Station board the Resort 21 limited express for a coastal segment that runs along the cliffs, including the section between Katase-Shirata and Izu-Inatori. Visit the Jogasaki Coast, formed by volcanic activity, where the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge (48 m long, 23 m high) spans the shore and sections of the Jogasaki Nature Trail extend along volcanic rock formations (approx. 9 km total trail). Before returning to Tokyo there is a stop at Ito Marine Town for local food, souvenir shopping, and seaside views.
